According to the history records the earliest (and the only) temple in Buzhaninovo had been the St. Nicholas woodwork church first mentioned in 1543.
In 1734 a new wooden construction had replaced the time-worn churh and had been consecrated by then the superior of the neighboring Holy Trinity Monastery - archimandrite Varlaam.
A century after the stone church was built on the same place in the Empire style with the central altar dedicated to St. Nicholas and the side-altar - to the Theophany.
In 1940s the church was closed, the services and masses were terminated, the bell tower was demolished and the church building was turned into a warehouse.
In early 1990s with the change of the political climate in Russia and the common attitude to the religion, the church was returned to the local Christian community. The church building had been restored and finally consecrated in 1998.
On December 19, 2000 (the church's patronal feast - St. Nicholas day) the particle of the divine relics of St. Nicholas was granted to the church.
Nowadays the church building and the bell tower are being restored. The new rectory building next to the church's West entrance accommodates the Sunday school and the local parish assemblies.
